The Freedom Programme is a nationally recognised programme that has been designed to help any parent who has been a victim of or is affected by domestic abuse. The programme was primarily designed for women as victims of domestic violence, since research shows that in most cases of serious abuse are male on female.

The programme aims to help women identify abusive behaviours and beliefs held by their abusive partners and aims to help them to rebuild their self-esteem and self-confidence and ultimately move on from an abusive relationship.
It also provides a powerful insight into how domestic abuse affects children and young people exposed to this kind of abuse and very importantly how their lives are improved when the abuse is removed.
At Sanctuary Family centre the Freedom Programme is delivered by Themby, a trained facilitator who is supported by experienced Family Assessment Workers.
The programme usually lasts for 11 or 12 weeks.
The programme does not provide counselling, but it does hope to empower those who attend to move on to abuse free lives.
There is an on-line Freedom Programme which is suitable for both men and women. To find out more about the on-line course follow this link. (The Freedom Programme Online Course)
